44 Days

Grieving the sudden death of his father, awkward 12-year-old Mark longs to reconnect with his father's memory. After suffering a humiliating experience at school (in front of Laura, his long-time crush) Mark seeks refuge in his father's favorite VR game: Metro Android. Once inside the virtual lobby of the game, Mark is greeted by the game's sentinel NPC butler. Asked what he'd like to do (join a training session or play in a death-match) Mark sullenly murmurs he'd like to see R0ckSlide, his father's avatar. To his shock, when the R0ckSlide avatar materializes into the lobby, he removes his helmet and reveals himself to be a virtual manifestation of his father, Alex. Stunned and in disbelief, Alex reveals to Mark that while he doesn't fully understand the process of death, he is being granted 44 more days on earth to take care of unfinished business before entering the Light. This unlikely reunion proves to be the much needed catharsis Mark has been seeking but, as he soon discovers, helping Alex is not as easy as it sounds since he can only interact with his father from within the game. While 44 days may not be enough, Mark is thrilled to have this gift of additional time with his father as it's not just an opportunity for the two to bond but also a revealing lesson on life, death and the wonders beyond our senses.
